MHCLG Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Lived Experience Forum

Expert Link is working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to facilitate a new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Lived Experience Forum.

The Forum will bring together a wide pool of people with lived experience of homelessness and/or rough sleeping to help shape national policy, practice and delivery. Members will work with MHCLG officials on live policy topics, sharing what these issues look like in real life and what could work better in practice.

This is not just about telling personal stories. It is about recognising lived experience as expertise, and making sure people are supported to influence decisions, services and systems in a safe, meaningful and practical way.

Recruitment for the Forum is now open. We would like to hear from people with lived experience of homelessness and/or rough sleeping who want to help shape national policy and practice. You do not need previous policy experience, and Expert Link will provide preparation, support and training to help members take part safely and confidently.

The Forum will run to March 2027, with a mix of online and in-person opportunities to contribute. Travel and reasonable expenses will be covered where needed, and members will receive recognition for their time.

Applications close at midday on Thursday 14 May 2026.
