We’ve just published a new peer-led research report on people’s experiences of accessing Local Welfare Assistance Schemes (including Discretionary Housing Payments and other council-run crisis support).
The research was co-produced with the National Expert Influencing Forum (NEIF) and is based on 15 interviews carried out in Autumn 2025. People told us that support is often hard to find, hard to navigate, and emotionally draining at the point of crisis, but when it works, it can be life-changing.
The report includes verbatim, anonymised quotes and practical recommendations on awareness, access, communication, fairness, and dignity. You can read the full report and a short public summary here:
